Novel nanomaterials have emerged not only as interesting new scientific curiosities but also as promising new platforms for the development of new technologies, expanding the research fields of clean and renewable energy, biosensing and medical applications. The scope of the symposium is based on recent advances on design, synthesis, characterization and application of nanocomposites for photonics and plasmonics. Topics of interest are: linear and nonlinear optics, new concepts and fabrication methods for applications related to colloidal and vitreous nanocomposites, development of new plasmon characterization techniques, magnetic, structural and electronic properties using novel probing tools and engineering of new nanostructures.
